The Rescue 2020 AGM and Open Meeting went virtual, via Zoom. It was very well attended, and the open meeting was a great success. The theme was
“Digging Into The Future of Digitisation: what does this mean for Archaeology?”
Brendon Wilkins (Dig Ventures) and Dr Chiara Bonacchi (University of Stirling) presented thought-provoking perspectives on the role of the digital in archaeology, featuring Dig Ventures and Micropasts as two important case-studies of the potential for digital engagement & research.
Panel discussion followed, looking at a wide range of issues related to digital outreach, digital archiving and digital recording amongst much else. Many thanks to our panel –
Kasia Gdaniec – Cambridgeshire County Council
Duncan Brown – Historic England
Tim Evans – Archaeology Data Service
Chiara Bonnachi – University of Stirling
Lisa Westcott-Wilkins – Dig Ventures
…as well as to the many Rescue members who contributed questions and points for further discussion.
